A man, a boat, and a dog.

The Sperry Story

From one stubborn man’s refusal to let slippery ship decks stand in the way of his love of the open ocean to the iconic modern-prep powerhouse it is today.

Sperry was founded in 1935 by avid sailor, inventor and trepid explorer Paul Sperry. After falling overboard from the slippery boat deck, he was then inspired by his cocker spaniel’s footpads, creating the world’s first non-slip deck shoe and the iconic Top-Sider. Sperry continues its tradition of offering innovative, fashion-forward styles that are perfect at sea or on the streets.
